| My Opinion: |
| This book is the sequel to "Cretaceous Sea" written by the same author. In my review of Cretaceous Sea, I wrote, "I thought this book was just "another" time travel story with a few avian-humanoid aliens (kind of unique concept actually) thrown in for spice." Cretaceous Sea turned out to be a grand prehistoric adventure. Unfortunately, that is not the case with 'Sea of Time' which IS basically "just another time travel story" from my perspective. For time travel aficionados, this book has a lot to offer including an expansive exploration of the potential catastrophic affects of ones actions in the past on self, family, society, and the world. From a "Nature on the Rampage" perspective though, there is very little to hold one's interest. This book is sort of an opposite to the Cretaceous Sea which devoted probably 85% of the story to man's survival in a hostile prehistoric animal-filled world during the K-T extinction event. At most, 'Sea of Time' spends 15% of the story alluding to and/or encountering prehistoric animals. This is not a bad read really but the meager "man vs. prehistoric beast" content left me feeling ripped off. |
