3 Scars

| This is one of those books that would be easy to pass up unless of course you are a fan of the original Star Trek series. While I am not a "Trekie", I did enjoy watching re-runs of the original series which eased my decision to read this book. Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and the Enterprise aside, this is a very interesting story projecting what might have happened if the K-T Extinction event never occurred, leaving the ruling life forms on Earth (i.e., the reptiles and more specifically the Dinosaurs) to evolve in a pattern similar to mammalian evolutionary theory (e.g., fire, tools, "higher thought", weapons, space travel). The conflicting inner struggle of these evolved dinosaurs between primal carnivorous impulses and rational thought is "titillating". I recommend this book to all based on its unique story line and I highly recommend it all Treckies, especially if you like dinosaurs. |
