This set of cards is interesting but somewhat confusing.  The Spanish narrative description on the back of each card does not necessarily relate to the image on the face. Character names on the card backs have been changed. For examples, Edward Malone was changed to ‘Fred Malory’, Professor George Challenger was changed to ‘Professor Cesar Browning’, and Paula White was changed to ‘Mary White’. In addition, ‘First National Bank’ is misspelled on all of cards as ‘Firts National Bank’ and Arthur Conan Doyle's last name is misspelled as 'Connan'.  Interestingly, while First National Pictures is credited the licensing company is strangely credited (as on other Mundial movie cards) as Metro-Goldwyn (not even properly, as 'Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer'). Stranger still is the fact that Warner Brothers controlled First National in 1927 when these cards were sold. (Ref: Robert Telleria).
 
Another oddity of this set is that two versions of the cards were printed; one in glossy black & white and one in a matte sepia tone (see images below).
 
It probably goes without saying, but collectors should perform some due diligence with respect to the value of this set before purchasing.  I understand that in 2024, an opportunistic eBay seller in Spain obtained a partial set for $17 and has listed the very same set for $800 under the false pretense that they have never been offered in the U.S. and that the last full set sold in 1999. Truth is, complete sets still pop up in Spain for $20-50. (Ref: Robert Telleria)
